What Is The Treatment For Runny Nose And Sore Throat?

I am a 30 year old nursing mother. I currently have a deep chest cough, green mucus from my nose, stuffy/runny nose, sore throat, and swollen lymphnodes. Last night was terrible. I could not sleep. My throat hurt and was full of gook, and everything hurt, including my teeth. Is it worth seeing someone?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of runny nose and sore throat which is due to upper respiratory infection due to poor immunity of your body. I would suggest you to avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take throat soothing agents. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should take cough expectorants. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest x-ray done along with pulmonary function tests done so as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly.
