Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For a patient with typhoid fever but already released by the hospital, how long will it take for the recovery of the patient? We fear that the bacterium could be transmitted to other members of the family. Is there a need to isolate the patient? Thank you!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. There is no need for isolating typhoid patient. For preventing transmission clean food is to be taken. Maintain hygiene like washing hands before taking food. Avoid contaminated and outside food. Give soft and bland diet to typhoid patient. Small meal in frequent interval. Pulse, egg, boiled chicken, etc., can be taken to provide calories. Avoid high fatty food and fried in excess. Avoid excess spicy food. Avoid non-veg and junk food. Fruit juice to be taken more. Avoid high-fiber diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
