What Is The White Coating On My Child's Tongue While Taking Epilim?

My son is 7 and severely disabled, he is on 300mg Epilim twice daily. In the past few days he has developed a white coating on his tongue and two ulcers, one of which is bigger than a 5 cent coin... He won't/can't eat because of it and is already only 18kg

Thanks for the question. As your son is on epilim he is likely to get folic acid deficiency and mouth ulcers. Because of pain he wont be able to eat. Well kindly start on syrup multivitamin with good dose of folic acid twice daily. Continue as long as child is on epilim. Try applying zytec or orasep jel insidey mouth atleast 3 times a day for 7 days. You can try giving syrup lignocaine once at night as it reduces pain.
