What It Takes To Reduce The Lymph Node ?

Hi. I have a hard, immobile, pea sized lump behind my left ear that I noticed about 4 days ago the night after my husband rubbed my neck. It was sore the next day and is now sore on and off. I was seen by my doctor today and she said it was a lymph node. She said I could either wait a few weeks to see if it goes away or that I could have an ultrasound on it because she knows how worried I am about it. She also said I had some fluid behind the ears and my sinuses were very swollen. She said it wasn t too concerning, but the fact that it is so hard and immobile really freaks me out. She prescribed an antibiotic and flonase. Can t stop worrying about it. What are your thoughts. Need some piece of mind. Thanks, Christie

ENT Specialist Dr. A.K. Srivastava's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding a hard immobile lymph node behind the ear.

After considering the facts of your observation and co-relating the opinion of your doctor it appears as there is some infective pathology is going on either on your scalp or in ear which might have developed this. Your lymph node is painful this is indicative of acute inflammation.

I think you should continue the treatment advice by your doctor and if possible you may add some anti inflammatory also with due consent of your doctor, as this may hasten your recovery.

I hope above will help you other wise you may go for-

1- Ultrasonography of lump.

2- FNAC from lump.

3- Biopsy from lump.

These above investigations will disclose the real pathology going on.

Regards.
