What Kind Of Diagnosis Is Required For TMJ?

I was in a car accident over 20 yrs ago, I had to have bilateral TMJ surgery. I wear an occlusal guard at night to help with headaches, shoulder pain and prevent any further complications or needing to have surgery every again. I am looking for the diagnosis, and codes to get my medical insurance to cover for a new one to be made. I am on my third one in 20 yrs. My surgeon doesn't have any of my medical records anymore since it has been 20 yrs since my surgery. This is medically necessary, not TMJ as a dentist would diagnosis it?

thans for your query, i have gone through your query. you can get it diagnosed by consulting a oral physician you tell the oral physician about your past medical and dental history and get yourself examined. you need to get radiograhs or CT done to rule out the pathologies and take an interpretation of the radiographs.
after diagnosis we can manage accordingly. i hope my answer will help you take care.
