What May Have Caused Pain In Left Hand And Thumb Joint?

For the past few weeks my left hand has been hurting, seems like it s in the thumb s joint. I am left handed and have not had anything traumatic to happen to it. It hurts to squeeze as well as pinch anything; and it hurts to grasp anything of weight. I am 49 years old and left handed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It might be carpal tunnel syndrome. I advise to consult further with orthopedic specialist first.

X-ray of hand and wrist, or even MRI might be needed to confirm right diagnosis.

Wrist band can alleviate the pain especially when you work or use your hand.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
