What Medication Is Suggested For Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I am 65 years old and have RA. I had a L hip replacement 3 years ago and since then my left knee is turning in terribly. I have the normal achy knees caused by RA (not severe pain). Both my knees are hyper extending, which again, i uncomfortable but not really painful. I'm more concerned w/ the look of the inward turn and how it affects my gait....any suggestions?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I think your knee is having severe arthritis. I hope you are regularly taking HCQ, SAAZ, Methotrxate tablets. If you are regularly taking these medicines and even then your pain is not under control then I would recommend you to get a rheumatologists opinion. You might need following.
1. Immunomodulators can be tried in your case.
2. steroid can be given for short time.
3. Synovectomy like procedures can be done. These are surgeries which provide pain relief for short time.
4. Hot water fomentation is also useful.
5. If still your knee is turning and affecting your gait then my suggestion is to plan knee replacement surgery.
So You should opt for these steps after discussing with you doctor. And Do not stop medicines in between.
