What Other Than Laryngitis Cause High Fever Chills, Loss Of Appetite And Sore Throat Without Any Coughing?

My brother is having a high fever chills, loss of appetite and sore throat but no coughing he had also vomited a few times. He was seen at er and diagnosed with laryngitis but the symptoms I read doesn t seem to be associated with that. Any other possible conditions could be the cause?
