What Over The Counter Pain Medicine Is Best To Take With Prednisone?
Hello what over the counter pain medicine is best to take with Prednisone i always take aleeve as my go to on other ocassions my Dr said no not with this take tylenol have not taken in years do not like. pharmacist said any would do????what s the answer have taken 6 tylenol generic since yesterday.....thanks
Prednisone and Aleeve can both cause stomach ulcers, and when they are combined your are at high-risk of developing an ulcer, which could be a life threatening condition. So by advising you NOT to take Prednisone and Aleeve together, the medical professionals are trying to help you.
Tylenol would be a fair suggestion. If you feel that you must take Aleeve, it should not be taken without a second medicine which can prevent peptic ulcers - such as Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, Pantoprazole etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Riechel-Sarup, General & Family Physician
