What Precautions Are Needed After An Appendicitis Surgery?

My brother is 75 yrs old and is operated yesterday nighty for appendicities at 10 pm How many days he is required to stay in hospital and what precaution has to be taken iafter surgery especially diet ndcan he attend office as he is MD of a private factory

short answer:
usually he needs bed rest with restricted physical activity till the suture is removed which takes 7- 10 days
detailed answer:
you must give adequate time for the wound in the surgical area to heal and he might be needing iv antibiotics for 3-5 days. till the granulation tissue to appear and propper dressings. or else it will cause secondary infection. usually if appendicitis is done in the usual way it will take 5-7 days for the wound to cure. it would be faster if it has been done by laparoscope. if you wanted a faster discharge you might have opted for laproscopic prosedure for him. hope this explains
