Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that this procedure consists on the injection of a steroid shot in the epidural space.

This procedure may cause a temporary relief of back pain, resulting from bulging discs.

The procedure itself is quite safe and there is no need to hospitalize.

But, the limitation of physical activity is more related to the main problem which is the discal herniation or bulging, than to the injection procedure.

It is important avoiding prolonged standing up and sitting position in the next days. Heavy weight lifting should be avoided too. Physiotherapy may be helpful to reduce the back muscles spasm.

All there precautions are necessary to avoid exacerbation of the back pain.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards, Dr. Aida
