What Should I Do If My 8-year-old Child Accidentally Swallowed A Butterscotch Candy?

Hi there. My 8 year old son just accidentally swallowed a butterscotch candy whole. He seems to be ok and is breathing and talking fine but says it is uncomfortable - we had him drink two bottles of water. Anything else we can do or need to watch out for? Is ER visit or call to pediatrician necessary?

Hello,

I would recommend that you get an X-ray chest to exclude aspiration.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
