What Should I Do About Frequent Urination, Bladder Cramping, And Mild Penile Soreness After Stopping Medication Post-clear Cystoscopy?

Recently did a cystoscope and everything was fine, when I was at home after finishing the meds I had urinary incontinence, I felt like urinating but did release small urine sometimes none. Got pills again. After a while they made me dizzy. Deutronum XL and macrodantin, I was told to stop them. I have the same problem but this time it’s urinating a lot of times a day than usual and feeling the need to urinate a lot. My bladder is cramping or feels like it’s moving in some places. Got tested for diabetes, kidney and full mood count. Everything is in good condition. Now I don’t know what to do. Cause now even the penis is sore a little tiny bit after urinating tiny urine. Please help

Hello,

It is possible for cystoscopy to cause temporary irritation of the bladder and urethra, leading to frequent urination, urgency, and mild soreness. Do not consume caffeine, alcohol, and acidic foods (they can worsen bladder irritation). Drink adequate amounts of water to flush out the bladder, but do not take excessive of it.

Detrunorm XL (Trospium chloride) is used for overactive bladder. Stopping it commonly rebounds bladder overactivity, leading to frequent urination and urgency. Macrodantin is prescribed for UTIs, but some infections might not fully clear, leading to lingering symptoms. Do urine culture to check if bacteria are still present. You will be treated accordingly. Post-cystectomy, some develop prostatitis or urethritis if there was minor trauma to the urethra.

This can cause frequent urination, mild penile soreness, and bladder discomfort. Get examined and evaluated to rule out or detect the same. You will be treated accordingly. Taking sitz bath twice daily and taking magnesium supplements are helpful to relax the bladder. Pelvic floor therapy also relaxes muscle tension. In case the symptoms persist, or your urine tests show infection, or if pain worsens and you develop fever, chills, or back pain, consult a GP

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
