What Should I Do For My Bowel Movement?

I had an ablasion done on Friday morning and haven't been able to have a BM since then. I feel like I need to go, but I can't. I have already taken my stool softners as indicated in my post op discharge papers but still have had no relief. What should I do

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Ablation might not have been directly responsible for the constipation and you are already taking the stool softeners as advised, yet there is feeling of needing to go for passing motion but nothing is coming out.
This can be due to the following reasons:
There can be fecolith formation, meaning hard stool lumps are present in colon.
I would advise you the following:
Get an X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see for fecoliths.
If present, you need a saline and soap enema.
Continue with the stool softener.
Can also put Dulcolox or Glycerin suppository per -rectum.
Sitz bath before passing the stool.
If the problem persists in spite of proper medications, you may need colonoscopy after proper preparations...
