What Should Be Done For Mild Strain Of ACL And Degeration?

Hi Doctor.
In my MRI report result shows Mild strain of ACL and Degeration / grade 1 tear in the posterior horn of medial meniscus for my left knee and for my right knee report states mild strain in ACL only.
Apart from that I did not have swelling. It doesn't pain too much it's just has strength and stability issues. What is recommended? I am not keen on opting for surgery

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi there.

For the right knee I don't think that you need to do anything much other than following a strict physiotherapy protocol to strengthen your muscles.

For the left knee though I think you should go for an immediate Diagnostic and/or Therapeutic Arthroscopic surgery in the same sitting.
Arthroscopy is the best way to diagnose these injuries.
It will tell about the extent of meniscus and ACL damage under direct vision and whether any therapeutic step has to be taken there and then.

Till then do continue with the exercise programme in both knees.

I hope my advice has helped.
Good luck
