What Should Be Given To A 9 Year Old Son For Fever And Headache?

My 9 year old son has had fevers for 4 days, no GI or RT signs but says he feels dizzy. I have treated the fevers with panadol and nurofen but is still spiking 2 - 3 times a day at 38 - 39 degrees. A GP said 2 days ago he doesnt need AB s. He has had an intermittent frontal headache

Hi,

First of all, you should do CBC, urine analysis, stool analysis, sputum analysis, chest X-ray and fasting blood glucose to know the cause of the fever. Appendicitis can cause fever, so you should exclude this condition. During infection, the immune system releases some mediators, which cause a headache. If all investigations were negative, you would need a pediatrician for further investigations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
