What Should The TSH Level Be After Having A Surgery For Hypothyroidism?
Hi.. I m 19 years old , and I had an operation in 2011 for hypothyroid and I have operate the left lobe and now in 2014 I have done analysis T3 , T4 ,TSH the result is : .........Value.......FL......Norm.. T3 ....1.68........1.3-3.1 nmol/L T4......5.30.....5.13-14.06 ug/dL TSH.....5.10....0.27-4.2 uIU/mL ////////////*****////////////////////////////// My problem is to the TSH.....5.10....0.27-4.2 ...And I want to know more about it can it repeats again to have an operation or what is it ? Can somebody help me .. Thankyou ..
As mentioned in reference value the upper limit of TSH for your age should be below 4.2. Other than high TSH your T3 and T4 are also in lower side of spectrum. It indicates that you are still having the hypothyroidism.
In my view it will be better to get FT3 And FT$ level as these are more direct indicator of thyroid status.
Even these two tests show results than it is better to take the supplemental thyroxine. Surgery is probably not required again as you did not mention about recurrent goiter or any other pressure effect of it. Thanks
