What Should The Dosage Be While Taking Cyclacur As An Alternative For Femoston-conti?

Hi I was prescribed femoston conti 1/5 by gp in uk and have been using this for the past 2 years. I ran out whilst abroad and was given cyclacur 2+(2+o.5)mg. Is this the same dosage. There are two different colored tablets in the pack whereas femiston only has one that I would take every day.

Hi,

Though, both are brands of female hormones, usually used as HRT (Hormonal Replacement Therapy). Still, cyclecar contains only single female hormone a type of estrogen, where as femoston-conti has a combination of two female hormones estrogen as well as progesterone.

Though, both the drugs can be used as HRT, still, specifically use of one or the other drug will depend on the specific indication for its use. As, we do not know your precise case history and specific indication for its use, still broad guidelines may be there as--Usually, in post hysterectomy patients (comprising removal of uterus along with ovaries) use of only estrogen hormone is used as HRT to control the symptoms due to absence of ovaries.

However, use of progesterone with estrogen is to be used in postmenopausal patients with presence of uterus to prevent endometrial hyperplasia. Still, you should use any hormonal therapy strictly under guidance of your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
