What Signs Should I Look For In My Child After A Head Injury?

My 5year old son was playing outside, he slipped & hit head the side of his head about 2 1/2hrs ago . he tells me his head hurts very little now but he looks drowsy to me, I didnt let him take his nap & he feels warm. Should i take him to ER? or what signs do i need to be looking at?

Hello. Thank you for your question. This is a very common occurrence. The most important thing is that he didn't lose consciousness upon impact. After that, the next most important sign is vomiting within the first 24 hours after the fall. As long as this doesn't happen, there is nothing to worry about. He may be allowed to sleep as much or as little as he wants.
