iam 38y old women i had epilepsy since i was 4y old.iam taking 200grms lamnet twice a day and epilium and tegretol in the night.my doctor says my type of epilepsy is minor epilepsy and its called aura it only happens while iam sleeping.my question is if its minor than why these medication able to control my fits because maximum 12 days gap and then i got my sezuire.and how do i know that i got non epileptic sezuires and that's why my medication are not working.thank you

I would say that it doesn't really matter if a minor or severe type of Epilepsy, in the fact that how is it going to last. The difference between the two types is the damage that these seizures cause to your brain. It is a lower damage in auras and minor seizures. The fact that these seizures have persisted since childhood is an argument in favor of an anatomical problem inside your brain. That is why it is difficult to treat or even cure. I would like to know if you have performed a brain MRI. A hypocampal sclerosis can cause similar seizures.
