What To Do For 91 Year Old Having Urination Feeling All The Time But Cannot Urinate?
My 91 year old mother just phoned me (near midnight) to say she feels likes she needs to urinate and cannot. She says she did not pee hardly at all during the day and now her stomach feels bloated. She wants to go to the er right now. I put in a call to her doctor but no response.
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your 91 years old mother is unable to pass urine .
This is likely that she has acute retention of urine and needs to go to ER for clinical evaluation and get her catheterised to drain the bladder .
She needs to consult qualified Urologist and following basic tests to find out the cause of her retention of urine 1) Routine urine tests and culture. 2) Ultrasound scanning of the abdomen 3) Endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy).
Further treatment will depend upon the final diagnosis.
