What To Do For Child Mental Stress?

My 11 year old likes playing baseball and is good at it. However at the beginning of each season he does not want to go to practice. Practice does start a bit pre season in doors and he hates going. My husband is the coach and so fights break out before practice and it is stressful. Why is this happening and how do we get my son to go to practice without all this stress!

At this age boys usually never want to obey any one's orders
They feel that they know everything.
We have to explain them in a cool manner and try to convince them
If you try to apply force or exercise authority they will become more adament.
