What To Do For Low Platelet Count?

my grand mother was 70 yrs old and she was suffering from a low platelet count. The count of the platelets had fallen to 25000. Doctors were unable to say the problem for the platelet down. They had done the bone marrow test and the result was "NO EVIDENCE OF LEUKEMIA OR OTHER SPECIFIC MARROW PATHOLOGY PRESENT". they had done no other tests . Can you say any other tests that had to be done?????

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The two major causes of low platelet counts are destruction of platelets and decreased production in bone marrow.
Platelet destruction can take place in the blood or marrow.
The bone marrow examination has revealed normal bone marrow without any evidence of leukemia or any other pathology.
The platelet precursors in bone marrow are also within normal limits.
Thus, the cause for low platelets in not in the bone marrow.
The cause of reduction of platelets is in the peripheral blood.
This could be due to increased destruction in peripheral blood due to drugs or any other chemical.
Drugs are the most common cause of platelet destruction.
If there was a history of any drug intake, this could be the most probable cause of low platelets.
