Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes am suffering from bad panic attacks and terrible anxiety. The last time I went to hospital they gave me a script for alprazolam 2mg take as needed qty.90 and told me to find a regular doctor. But I have no insurance and I am almost out of meds.
Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine drug and it can be used in symptomatic control of anxiety. The drug is given in low doses for control of panic and anxiety symptoms. For proper treatment of anxiety other medicines like SSRIs as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline etc are used.
As alprazolam can control the symptoms only I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for definitive treatment of panic and anxiety.
If you have no access to a psychiatrist then you can consult a psychologist for psychological treatment. Relaxation exercises like Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Breathing Exercises, Yoga etc help in early recovery from anxiety.
Hope this helps you, Thanks
