Last week I came down with a sudden fever that lasted approximately 8 hours. I then developed a sore throat. I saw a doctor on Tuesday who said it was most likely viral but prescribed me antibiotics as my throat looked infected. My throat has gotten worse and I've developed a cough. In the last two hours, I've developed a sore neck at the back especially if I lean over. Any ideas what I have?
As per your query, you have symptoms of sore throat along with soreness in neck and cough which seems to be due to infection and swelling of lymph nodes and could be viral pharyngitis.
You should take throat lozenges. Take proper course of antibiotics such as Levofloxacin for 5 days. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription.
Avoid intake of oily and fried food. Also, avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should maintain oral hygiene and do warm saline gargles.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
