What To Do For The Knot On Temple Caused By Hitting?

My 2 year old hit his right temple on the corner of a book shelf when walking by. He had an indention and then it popped out into a knot. He cried for a few minutes. It was right at bedtime and he didnt nap all day and played hard so he just wanted to go to sleep. I tried to keep him a wake but he wouldn't do it. should I worry?

hi there,
I am Dr. Deepak, I work in Emergency Department. Your kid has hit his head while playing around, when it was time for sleeping. He cried for some time then he wanted to sleep. You are mostly worried if he sleep you will not be able to see if he is more drowsy, because of head injury.
What information you have provided it feel like your baby had minor head injury. There are few other thing that you can watch for like vomiting, bleeding from nose and ears. If he doesn't have that, then can also have sound sleep. There is no need to keep your baby awake, its his nap time mean do let him have sleep.
Thank you,
Hope your baby stay healthy.
