Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I tripped and the left outside part of my left foot hurts and it s a big swollen. I can walk but I have a bit of a limp. This happened to me in my childhood quite a few times but it always healed after a couple if days. Should I be worried. It happened today. My graduation is tomorrow so I m kind of nervous about possibly having to limp across stage. Any home remedies that really help with this issue?
You have ankle sprain with possible tear of the ligaments. You need to wear a non adhesive elastic bandage. Keep the limb elevated and apply ice. Take pain killers twice a day for 5 days after meals. Avoid bearing weight on that foot for 2 weeks. Wear Basketball shoes for better protection henceforth.
