What To Do If Foetal Pole Is Not Seen And No Cardiac Activity During Abdominal Scan?
Hello Doctor, My LMP was 30th Oct. I had a history of irregular periods and hence was given gennete 35 by my gynae. I took it for six months. One month after I stopped taking the medicines I concieved. I got my TVS done on 12th Dec according to which I had some lag in my pregnancy. Acc to LMP I shud have been 6 Weeks pregnant whereas TVS showed 4weeks and plus minus 5. Foetal pole was clearly seen. Yolk sac was clearly seen. But no Cardiac activity could be seen. I was asked to get the scan repeated after two weeks. This time I got abdominal scan done. But, to my horror, foetal pole was not clearly seen and no cardiac activity yet. I am taking folic acid and sustain at bed time. I never had any nausea. Initially I had bloating and cramps which has subsided since last one week. I have had no spotting and no bleeding at all. M really tensed about my baby. What should I do next?
Dear madam,I understand your concern.Iam sorry for your condition. In my opinion disappearance of fetal pole ,absence of cardiac activity,no pregnancy symptoms like nausea ,no pain and spotting all go in favour of missed abortion.Missed abortion mostly occurs due to some genetic causes.Other causes may be hormonal imbalance and infections. So in my opinion you might go for abortion after discussing with your gynae. Any hormonal imbalance like thyroid abnormalities, progesterone insufficiency might be ruled out. Dont worry its not that that same might repeat in further pregnancies.Plan your pregnancy after 3 months and take folic acid tablet daily from one month before the conception for better results.
