What To Do If Having Blood In Bowels After Taking Laxatives Following Constipation?
I am a 70 year old female, who was having sharp pains in my right side near my naval. Went to ER and had it checked out, had a |E|KG. blood work urine sample, cat scan, we are thinking it could be appendicitis. But tests ruled that out, they did find a slight infection in my bladder. Came home with no positive answer to what it was. But I do suffer from constipation, so I took a laxative last night, did have moments throughout the day. Then I started having explosive burst of diariah which the last 5 times has been nothing from blood in the toilet bowl. Shat should I do now?
Welcome to HCM. Blood in the stool after taking laxative might be due to abrasions in the intestinal wall due to passing of dry hard stool. Take more simple and liquid diet. Eat more high fiber diet. Drink more water and other liquids like buttermilk, coconut water, lemon water. Eat more fruits, vegetable salads. If it is recurrent then consult your doctor for further diagnosis and proper medication.
