Hello,
Hormonal changes like Low estrogen and
hypothyroidism alone don't necessarily trigger
menopause weight gain.
There are many other factors which plays a role in Post menopausal weight gain.
1. Stress.
2. Decreased muscle mass- Muscle mass typically diminishes with age, while fat increases, which decreases your resting
metabolism, making it easier to gain weight.
3. You are less likely to exercise. In fact, 60% of adults are not active enough and this increases with age.
4. Your aerobic capacity declines. This is the rate at which you can use up energy during exercise.
These can be brought under control by changing life style and exercise.
My advise is to
1. Exercise regularly, atleast 45 minutes a day for 5 days a week. Try aerobic exercises. This not only reduce your weight also protects your heart and decreases the cardiovascular risk.
2. Stay away from processed foods and fast foods.
3. Eat whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean protein.
4. Don't skip breakfast and eat too late in the evening.
5. Monitor your calorie intake daily and regularly.
6. Try
relaxation techniques like yoga and
meditation to reduce stress.
Hope this helps.
