What To Do To Alleviate Pain In Ankle After Spraining It And Has Turned Black And Blue?
sprained ankle last Tuesday. I noticed it is still pretty black and blue with a bubble the size of a quarter formed on top of my foot. It hurts when I get up for the restroom because of the downward pressure and hurts when my foot falls asleep. Is there anything i can do to alleviate this pain? My appointment is tomorrow should I be overly concerned with the blister black and blue bubble?
The discolouration of the skin is due to blood collection under the skin. It gets resorbed and resolved with time.
Blister formation would be due to the tense swelling. You probably might have not taken any rest.....hence the swelling.
A swelling of this nature after so much time warrants complete bed rest with 2 pillows under leg to maintain elevation. Take an anti inflammatory like diclofenac three times daily. Take an antibiotic to prevent infection of blister.
It could be due to a fracture. ....hence do get an xray done. Also get a plaster applied whether it is a fracture or not.
I hope my advice has helped. Good luck
