Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I stubbed my toe last night and it ripped off my big toe nail. Some of it is completely gone, about 85% is still intact but barely connected to the skin. It hurts pretty bad and there is blood and clear liquid that comes from under the nail if you gently press on it. It s too painful to cut the nail shorter. Should I be doing anything to avoid infection other than using neosporin and keeping it wrapped in gauze? Any reason to see a doctor or will the nail come off on its own?
