I have been on Lantus for two weeks. Still adjusting to it. I don t have a short acting insulin yet, I have to wait three weeks to see a diabetes educator before I get the short acting dose. Any way I am up to 22 units of Lantus and I am crashing. I woke up at three this morning with a blood sugar of 50. I ate two cookies and had 8 oz of milk. Then today at work (I m a waitress) I crashed down to 61. I ate three glucose tablets, was ok, then I crashed again two hours later. My question is, what can I eat that will bring it up and keep it there. Simple sugars just crash right back down, but I need something that will bring it up and keep it there for awhile. My doctor is out until next monday. I m going to take less Lantus tomorrow.
