What Treatment Is Suggested For Spurs In Cording Index Finger And Thumb .

Hi. I play guitar for a living...I have bone spurs in my chording index finger and thumb/hand. I had massage grafting/scraping about 4 months ago and have had inflammation ever since. I take 500 to 1000mg of ibuprofen a day and it helps relieve. Also, heat bag and massage. I've started taking MSM, vitamin D, glucosamine chondroitin. I'm considering prednisone.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks, Rob

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi Rob.
Let me stary bu saying that If you keep rubbing a body part against some object it is bound to become diseased......and no matter what medicine you take for it , it just going to get worse until you remove the precipitating factor.
Now I am not telling you to leave you livelihood. ..but do apply some protection on your fingers while playing.
Until then this problem is going to persist.
Good luck
