What Will Happen If Over Dosage Of Medicine Is Given Than The Prescribed One?

I accidentally gave my 8 year old a double doze of amoxicillin for her ear infection (prescription- 5 ml 3 times a day; gave her by mistake 2 teaspoons under the impression this was 5 ml). I did this for the whole term of her treatment. I just realized. Should I be concerned? She weighs about 65 pounds

Hello,

Nothing will happen and no definite treatment is required. One time the overdosage of Amox does not cuss any problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
