Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, a physician and diabetician

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

You see the problem with diabetes is that it happens in people who have diabetic family members as well as in those who have no history of detected diabetes in the family- the latter are called sporadic cases.

The chances of you having diabetes are 20-45% as far as the genetic studies are concerned.

However, it is well known that diabetes is based on many factors. Not just genes.
It also depends on body weight, diet, regular/lack of exercise and such factors if well controlled may well make sure that you do not get diabetes.

I would therefore recommend that you keep having a regular 6 monthly check on fasting blood sugars and keep a good control on your weight, have a good diet, and go for regular exercises.
That way you may avoid diabetes.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.
