Hello,

Tibia fractures can be painful and slow to heal, but you will recover soon if you take all post-surgery care and precautions. At 4 weeks, do not bear weight, only toe-touch with a walker or crutches. Partial weight-bearing with a walker or crutches may be allowed around 6–8 weeks, depending on healing as seen in X-ray, stability of fracture and the surgeon’s guidance.

At 12 weeks, allowance of gradual weight bearing may still be safe with a walker or crutches. Walking with minimal or no support if healing is adequate may be permissible only at the 4th to 6th month. Get a regular X-rays before any increase in activity. Walking too early can delay healing, bend the nail, or re-fracture the bone. You are advised to get follow-up clinical examinations done routinely for a better recovery.

If required Physio-therapy will be advised by the treating Surgeon. Have patience; be gentle with yourself. Buy some good books, music albums, painting stuff, etc., so that you can use your time while you take all post-operative care.

Hope I have answered your question. Take care.
