When Does Discomfort While Swallowing Subside After FNA Of A Thyroid Nodule?

I had a FNA of a thyroid nodule 7 days ago. There were 4 passes made. Afterwards, I had bruising, tenderness over the area and some discomfort when swallowing. The bruising and tenderness for the most part are gone, however, there is still swelling over the nodule, and I feel discomfort when I swallow solids, it feels like there's swelling there. My endocrinologist is away and I just want to know if I can expect this to go away.

Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
Usually the FNA procedure does not cause side effect, anyway hemorrhage is the most common complication.
Usually it is manifested as a mild hematoma and is self limited.
So you should not get worried because in a 2 weeks period everything will get back to normality.

Will be a pleasure to answer further questions in the future.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
