When Is Medical Intervention Needed During A Miscarriage?

When is medical intervention needed during a miscarriage? She is 26 and we believe the embryo has passed. But there is still excessive bleeding and severe lower back pain. Noting that it is her first day. Less than four weeks have passed since I ejaculated inside.

Hi,

History says your wife has undergone miscarriage. It usually presents with:
- Stomach cramps
- Heavy bleeding, often passing clots
- Back pain
- Nausea, dizziness
- Increased heart rate due to significant amount of blood loss

These symptoms will settle down in few days. I advise her to take:
- Healthy diet and iron supplements
- Antispasmodics for cramps
- Excess fluid intake
- Strict bed rest

I advise to take USG pelvis to check for the retained products of pregnancy, as it might cause excess bleeding. Consult your gynecologist for further assistance.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
