Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When Should Amlodipine-Benazepril And Metoprolol Succinate Be Taken?
My Doctor just changed my blood pressure medicine from (Corgard) Nadolol 40 mg. 1 x a day. He has replaced it with AMLOD/BENAZP 5-20 mg. 1 x a day. He gas also given me METOPROLOL SUCC ER 25 MG 1 x a day. Which one should I take in the morning and which one at night?
I've gone through your query and the simple answer is that you can take them all in the morning. Combination pills are usually taken in the morning. During sleep the blood pressure drops in most individuals, so taking the pills before bedtime is not indicated for the majority of patients.
Amlodipine in particular is a drug that's better taken in the evening but since it's in the combination pill you can't take it separately. Metoprolol is an extended release tablet, therefore the time you're going to take it doesn't matter much.
You can take it in the morning for convenience (so that you won't have to remember another pill in the evening).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
