Which Are The Medicines To Be Avoided Before Radiofrequency Ablation?
I am having radiofrequency ablation for control of my lower back pain. The prep instructions say that I should not take ACE Inhibitors or Monamine oxidase inhibitors (7-14 days) before surgery. Also Glucophage or blood thinners. These are the drugs I have questions about: amlodipine besylate, metropolol, sertraline, buspirone, lamotrigene, trazadone, hydroxyzine pam glimepiride hydrocodone-acetaminophen 5-325 I m sorry Dr Grief, I wish the website would have said this was a pay for information site. Iam unable to do so. Thank you.
There isn't anything on drug interactions with radiofrequency ablation. AND, there could be effects of the ablation on bleeding or blood pressure so avoiding blood pressure medicines MIGHT be an issue.
Blood thinners seem like something to be cautious about in this context. so, purely psychological or pain drugs would not seem to be an issue:
* Trazodone
* Lamotrigene
* Hydrocodone
* Sertraline and
* Buspirone are hard to see how they would interact. Amlodipine, Metoprolol, ace and other BP medicines, I can see how they MIGHT interact but I'm not sure that is really an issue. Blood thinners, I would avoid before any surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
