Had a radial hysterectomy last September. I am 65 years old, small framed, 5' 4", weight 50 kg. Took HRT during menopause but stopped about 5 years ago. I have beginnings of osteoporosis. my mother had several fractures by age 65yrs. I had an accident 14 years ago fracturing my spine in 3 places I have arthritus in my spine and some other joints. I am actually extremely active as far as my back allows. I am considering taking HRT to help aches, pains, and generally feel better. What form should I take?
Hi, Thanks for asking, the are more risks associated with HRT than benefits and you need to talk to your doctor / gynecologist before going for this therapy. You can either use Alandronate on weekly basis or low dose of estrogen only therapy. You have to get your breast, B.P. and other examination and tests before you can start this. Please consult your gynecologist. Hope this will help you, Dr. Azeem, MBBS, MCPS, MRCGP Int.
