Let me emphasize on the fact that breast milk is the best food for a baby and there can be no alternatives for the same. Most fomulas are cow milk based and hence hard to digest. Similac has a number of products, some of which are soya based products which are free from lactose and hence may be suitable in case of lactose intolerance. Even otherwise, Similac is expected to be better, in case breast milk is inadequate. You may also opt for early weaning to semi solids which is considered acceptable after 3 or 4 months of age, by some schools.
