I was diagnosed with a UTI today and I m taking an antibiotic and uriben. Only problem is when I cough, I m experiencing a sharp pain on the left side of my back right under my rib cage. I have never experienced this type of pain and afraid to cough. I did have a URI for the past three weeks prior to this week. Not sure whats going on?

Hello,

It can be excess cough induced muscle strain.

You can wait for the next two days of it subsides by its own. If no improvement in next 2-3 days than USG abdomen scan should be done for further work up to exclude any kidney infection is present as you have urinary tract infection history.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
