Why Am I Having Acid At The Back Of My Throat After Stopping Omeprazole?

I was on Omeprazole for 6 weeks after 3 weeks of Ibuprofen use which caused indegestion and acid. The Omeprazole work great whilst using it. Having now stopped the Omeprazole, a couple of weeks later I still have frequent acid at the back of my throat. Is this normal ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

NSAID could cause the great acidity and, Ibuprofen is one of the drug, this can be avoided. If you do have hyperacidity symptoms again then you can start the Tab Omeprazole.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
