Noted the history of clay colored stool, took too much pepto a week ago, there is also cramping in lower stomach and thirst, wants to know what might be going on.
Well taking too much Pepto a week ago can not really have clay colored stool after one week as it is washed away within a few days at the maximum.
Hence the most probable cause is
obstructive jaundice in which there is obstruction to the outflow of bile due to stone, stricture or cancer.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor for a clinical evaluation and examination so that further investigations can be done:
Blood: CBC,
liver function tests including GGT and
Alkaline phosphatase.
Stool: Stercobilinogen, bile salts and pigments. may be absent
Urine : Bile salts and pigments and routine.
Ultrasonography of the abdomen to be confirmed by
CT scan or MRCP.
Once diagnosed, to get further management as per the reports of investigations .
