Why Did Lungs, Thyroid Nodules Not Show In The Original PET Scan?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My sister has breast cancer.Her post surgery petscan was negative so they started chemo.4 weeks in they did another scan and now find nodules in her lungs and thyroid.Why did this not show up on the original petscan?

Hello ,
thank you for yourquestion . I have to tell that even the most suffisticated tests like PET scan have some minuses . Pet scan has senaitivity of around 85 percent , so there is always always a chance for false negative test . The size of the node is also important . Sory to tell you that.
