Why Do I Feel Constant Pressure In My Throat Along With A Bad Taste?

For three days, I have had an almost constant pressure in my throat. It feels like someone is pressing on the front of my throat. Along with it is a very unpleasant "tasting" burping that I have never had before. It feels like I am constantly about to gag, even with excess saliva like you would haveright before vomiting. It is really making me uncomfortable- and while not actually affecting my breathing - feels like I can't breathe and don't want to eat. Oddly enough when I eat I do not feel any obstruction or gagging. Would this be considered an emergency?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms you are suffering from Gastro-esophageal reflux disease, commonly known as Acid Reflux and throat tightness, unpleasant taste and burping is due to acid reflux.
Due to acid from stomach refluxing in throat there irritation in throat leading to pain and tightness and the unpleasent taste is due to taste of acid..
Nothing to worry, consult a Gastro-enterologist and get evaluated and if required Endoscopy can be advised to you..
For Acid reflux taking Proton Pump Inhibitors like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole and antacid like Milk of Magnesia will help..
Drink plenty of water as it help in dilution of acid.
Avoid acidic and spicy foods as well as large heavy meals.
Take small and light meals and eat atleast 2 hours before sleeping..
Take a short walk after meals..
While sleeping keep your head slightly raised as compared to legs..
Take more of probiotics like Yoghurt in diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
