Hello,

Burning sensation in the urethra is commonly due to UTI. Get urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done. If UTI is detected, you will be treated with antibiotics. Other medical conditions that can cause such symptoms are urethritis, prostatitis, painful bladder syndrome, urethral stricture, kidney disease. It also occurs due to chlamydia and gonorrhea. But you are not sexually active so STDs is ruled out.

Get yourself clinically examined with a urologist. You will have to go through a few blood tests and imaging tests. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. You will be treated with specific antibiotics, antivirals, lubricants, hormones, etc. If required dilation or surgery may be recommended. Ointment Soframycin can be used on the affected area. Do not touch or scratch. Take care of your hygiene.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
