Why Do I Have Longer Period Than Usual?

I had unprotected sex with my bf 2 years back after that i had no problem Related to my periods but now i have this period problem. It started 3 mnths back when when periods get longer then the regular cycle n there was a heavy flow after which i took tablets on the suggestion of a gynacologist which helped me stop my bleeding but then spotting has started n since one mnth this spotting is continue . In between i had a ten days break n a one day break in these 3 months
